Picking Up

all over again

ou might say we are “picking up” where we left off … a lot of us! But for now, Rob Fortier and I (on this side of the keyboard) found ourselves wandering the vast wasteland that comes with having your magazine kicked to the curb … so to speak. In fact, there were a lot of magazines and a lot of talent that was set adrift. But what’s past is past.

Classic Truck Performance will now be positioned as your “go-to” magazine (bi-monthly for the remainder of the year) for all things within the classic truck world. (I’m still partial to a 1948 Chevy pickup, should have never gotten rid of it, but I do enjoy driving my 1972 Suburban as my almost daily driver.) Let’s look at what makes up a magazine. In today’s world it isn’t print only … no way. Those days have come and gone. (As we all saw early this year!) That’s correct, there are other ways to enjoy a magazine. Dare I say there’s the traditional print publication, which CTP will proudly represent. It will strive to bring you the “fun things” that are happening daily within our hobby. Whether it be the latest in product, or the coolest of builds, or anything else we may find, the goal will always be to entertain and inform.
CTP will be more than print … it will be social. Supported by a website, Facebook (go to FB page and “Like” us to be part of the family), and Instagram sites there will be ample opportunities for you to visit and see what’s happening. The beauty of social media is its immediacy and the reactions it stirs. (Sometimes that’s not a good thing and I’m confident all of us have a story or two to recount about what can happen.) As time marches on there will surely be more and varied social outlets that we can use to enjoy our hobby and make our lives even better.

One aspect that’s upon us, and we are very excited about, is the digital version of CTP. Yes, it’s the print magazine displayed digitally and with it comes new experiences that all of us can appreciate. With a digital magazine there comes the ability to enjoy more vibrant photography and, ready for this, video. Yes, video! We have seen the vertical format presentations of how the magazine will look and it’s exciting. The pages look more exciting, moving about is very easy, and with the addition of video there’s a “come to life” quality that just doesn’t exist in print. One more way to enjoy your hobby is through the digital magazine. Aside from video there will also be “hot links” that can take you from the story you are reading to elsewhere to learn more about specifics such as an advertiser’s page. Or, maybe the link takes you to a shop’s page and you can see what’s going on right now with their product, their builds, or what’s happening on the workbench.

There’s a lot of excitement and there will be plenty more brewing within the pages of CTP, whether it be print and/or electronically. In the meantime, all of us have to overcome some very difficult times. Here’s wishing all of you and your families take care of each other making sure all are safe and secure in the times that lie ahead.
